  • THQ starts another wave of layoffs
  • Stresses that recent layoffs won't affect their internal studios
  • Focusing on core game franchises and developing its digital initiatives

THQ have fallen on hard times lately; after canceling their entire 2013 - 2014 lineup, minus their internal studio productions, and looking for prospective investment in the Asia region, they have just commenced another wave of layoffs today. THQ have not confirmed how many people have lost their jobs, but they made a point of stressing that the layoffs would not affect its five internal studions: THQ San Diego, Relic, Volition, Vigil and THQ Montreal.

The official word from THQ - they are getting out of the kids' gaming sector.

As recently announced, the company is exiting the kids' licensed games category, and is focusing on its core game franchises and developing its digital initiatives. The company will provide greater financial detail regarding the costs and organizational benefit on its third quarter 2012 conference call scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2012." THQ

One thing is for certain - things aren't looking too good for THQ right now.
