But the reason it delivers a closer shave is because it doesnt offer the safety mechanisms that cartridge razors have so you have to be careful with these.
And instead of using the gillette canned goo you can use super awesome rich lathering creams they smell preeeeeeeeeetttyyyyyyyy

"I swapped from disposables to DE's in January and have never even been tempted into looking back. At the moment I use my husband's Merkur 11c, with whatever spare blades happen to be lying about, and it works great. The thing that sold me on trying it in the first place was that DE's don't clog, at least not in the incredibly irritating way that disposables do, and the closer shaves, less irritation, etc just sealed the deal. I do suggest getting her some decent soap or cream, even if it takes a while to get her to try a DE; that canned crap is overpriced and worthless and a lot of women I know find it irritates their skin. Using good lathering agents and some nice witch hazel with aloe for afters has done wonders for my skin; I don't really get razor burn anymore. I hope it'll work the same way for your wife; underarm irritation is a real bugger."

She uses my Personna reds and a blue star lady gillette which I bought for her, and kiss my face shaving cream. I gave her an old Muehle brush in best to use but so far she hasn't gave it a go. She even picked up a couple of razors for my birthday that's coming up, though she only did this because I recently parted ways with several razors.'

No no no, to make the lather in the first place. Hamzie and I use a badger hair brush and a bar of shaving soap to make our lather. We feel that canned foam or goo is a product designed and marketed by Satan.

Oh..I see..seems like too much effort for something that only takes a few minutes to do. Canned stuff works fine for me.

Nuu. I am not a picky man.

That shaving soap I'm using above is really great, though. Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood, for The Shaver Shop. I think they may have some other scents also.

Also, why is it that you people don't like shaving?

It takes time out of stuff I'd rather be doing. I want to permanently get rid of my facial hair. I can't grow it out properly anyways as it'll be multicoloured(one side black and the other side white(silly skin thing)).

Lawl no, as I have no choice in the matter. :P

It's just that a part of my skin on the right side of my face(under nose to over my jaw) has no colour pigment, so it's just white. The skin is white and any hair that grows there is also white.

i just read this thread and im basically in the same boat with matteh...excluding the multicoloured hair thing.

I hate shaving, it takes too long. though i do use a disposable razor and lathering out the can like you people seem to hate.

When it comes to shaving products I know basically nothing. It'd be good if I could get an easy shave that's quick, because like matteh i hate how much time it consumes. Also I don't shave SUPER frequently. I don't like getting a beard that's too long, but I don't mind having one that's a little off the skin, but by that point disposables just take WAY too much time since there's a whole lot of clogging and the razors just don't feel like they're cutting half the time.

That said, I will NEVER be a straight razor guy either. I'm not willing to sacrifice my safety. :P I don't feel comfortable with the idea.

I definitely need help in the shaving department.

also i dont have a dad.
