Well the last time I bought shaving soap was December 2009 for $6, and the last time I bought blades was the middle of last year for $7. The other stuff will last a literal lifetime.

Soap is also susceptible to spreading germs. My soap has started cracking and will probably start harbouring dirt/germs - not good for those with sensitive skin.

It shouldn't do so. Even if the soap isn't antibacterial, the cake dries out between uses, thus stopping bacterial growth. Germs can't grow without moisture, which is why the toilet seat is so clean.

Maybe it's just this place then. The bathroom is usually wet after people have their shows, it's as if they shake themselves dry like a dog. Mind you it's very cool in the summer so there's no risk of humidity.
