Lets discuss batteries

So many devices require batteries whether it be your controller, mouse/keyboard, Phone/iPods, portable gaming units etc.

But I feel batteries are still well under powered some of these devices can only get around 5 hours of full use then they need a recharge.

When or if do you think we will start to see some of these devices lasting days instead of hours, will we see it at all?

Also what's your most reliable item on batteries for run time?

Don't use wireless peripherals noob! I would only consider using them for an HTPC, I do not get why you would sacrifice performance and practicality just to remove a wire. USB forevarrrr!

I only have wireless for my HTPC and even that feels sluggish.

If by battery technology you mean power sourcing, then yeah. Batteries have come a long way in regards to size/weight verses life.

Why do mobiles only last 10 hours? Because they do so much more. Uninstall all your apps so it's only the phone, turn off 3G, wireless, blue tooth, turn down the brightness and you'll find it will last for a couple of days. If you try to run your current phone as it is with an old battery you'll probably find it will only last a couple of hours as opposed to a day/half a day.

Also, batteries these days have a micro controller and are actually programed to die after a certain amount of charges. You'll find with 360 controller batteries you can "reset" a dead battery if you recharge it in a different controller.
