It has been in danger of stuff like this for the last decade. It just changes name every time a new bill is presented. Guyver is dead on the money, it's Hollywood and the music recording industry.

SOPA, PIPA and ACTA (and about 5 other acts that have been formulated since) are a bit more malicious then their predecessors though, which is what is raising the alarm.

Blazex isn't the only one out there with a clear idea about what to do in response either. You should write your local, state or territory representative or at least get in contact with their offices and plead your case in a coherent manner.

Reliance on online petitions just shows laziness and is bound to label the majority of those interested in this cause as the same. How many people here have signed a petition or 5 as opposed to simply writing or calling someone who you can vote out of office if they don't listen?

I think we're all worried but I don't think it can be helped anyway since ACTA was already signed by Obama without consent of congress I think and since we're already on the list of those supporting this messed up law, we might as well just not have internet since we could possibly goto jail for saying "internet censorship is shit and those who want it are corrupt bastards who likes to stick their head up their asses"

Like the video said the only ones who benefit from this is a small portion of the music, movies and gaming industry who are so cut off from the outside world to begin with.

In an ideal world that should be how it goes, but there are not that many movie stars that get $5 million+ a movie, anything less than that isn't worth it.

Just look at the Hangover, it is pretty much a brand and it pulls money no matter how good the film is, but the 3 stars only earned 4-5 million each on the last film, compared to the 2 million they go for the first. That is only a 6 million difference on wages on the biggest comedy franchise in the world. Cutting that 6 million isn't going to make the studio reduce the price to rent or buy the film. 6 million is nothing in Hangover world.

The same goes for Transformers. The cast gets paid nothing, LaDouche only gets 500K per Transformers movie. Not really a figure that if you cut will make much difference.

It is actors like Will Smith that makes 20-25 million a film that will make the difference, but that greedy bastard won't take a cut.

The actors are underpaid compared to what the investors and the studio itself rake in from each movie.

Those sort of industries (film, music and television to an extent) need to be regulated a lot more by the seems of it.

Those people are just figure-heads. There will always be another shark to take up the position if one is removed.

The only way to stop this from happening again is for the corporations to accept change and adapt to these new business models that are currently kicking their arse instead of just calling piracy trying to sue everything that is flourishing in its wake. That and stop all the lying and misinformation.

Easier said than done I guess.
