I thought we could have a universal thread on all things concerning HDTV's, from plasmas to lcds. Ask questions, offer advice, announce up coming TV's all in one place. Please don't troll though and maybe back up your info with some links or pics.

Also post what TV you use and for what, if someone else owns the same TV you might be able to help them with whatever enquires.

My current TV is a Panasonic GT30, will post a pic soon.

DOn't know what my next amp will be, I know what Pioneer are like so tend to stay with them, I don't want to risk paying money getting a brand I have never used and regret it. I am looking to get a new one next year. I have good speakers to go with it so will need to look

I've still got pioneer speakers setup, 5.1 dolby digital surrount THX and the works.
You should check out onkyo, they are awesome, but pricey. They sell em at like JBhifi

the top of the range Onkyo 5008 is on my next reciever's list. but dont know how much better it would be over my Denon

Sorry to say but this is the top of the range

for me 4 HDMI is plenty. As i only currnetly use 3 - PS3, bluray player & Media Centre.

WOW that is SICK!! 9.2 channel speakers and the works, I did not see this at the stores I went electronics shopping :'(

unlikely HN, DSE, JB, GG etc will stock high end receivers like the Onkyo 5008. need to visit audio specialist stores. As most of these stores only stock entry level equipment

actually Onkyo 5008 is very well priced at approximately $3000. that is pretty cheap for a great reciever. I paid the same for my Denon.

$3000 is pretty good, I would be happy to pay that if the sound quality is there.

9.2 so I would have to buy 2 more speakers just to use those out puts lol

i wouldnt worry about providing 2 addittional speakers as nothing is recorded in 9.1. hardly any movies are even in 7.1.

I know it annoys me, I have a few in DTS HD 7.1. wish more would come out with it though

likewise only have a handful of 7.1 audio movies.

my issue is how much better would the Onkyo 5008 sound over my Denon 3808A? second question is would i need to upgrade my mid tier speakers to high end?

Im not getting any speakers for long time, these speakers are good enough for me and 900 a pair should be good enough. I aint paying more money for speakers for a long time

i paid over 2k for a pair of my fronts, surrounds was about 1.1k a pair.

no use buying a great reciever / amp when you dont have speakers to match.

Well my speakers are bloody great, no point getting anymore, I would really need to hear them first big time if i was gonna pay more. Wharfedales are good enough for me

thats the thing you could spend thousands and only notice very minor difference but to some that what counts. i am too very contempt with my MA but there is always room for improvement

Serious question.
I'm thinking about getting a 3D tv.
Problem is I wear glasses, do the 3D glasses available fit over the top of your normal glasses?
I cannot take my glasses off and just use the 3D ones, I have tried at the movies and I get a throbbing headache within 10-15 minutes.
Maybe 3D is not for me but people with glasses how do you get around it, what are alternatives?

I take it you have never had them otherwise you wouldn't be talking out ya backside

Fitting over your glasses is fine, the glasses have been designed for people with glasses in mind

I have used Samsung, Sony and Panasonic glasses over my own and they all fit
